Pear Rejection

IMG_2282
It's official. Cati doesn't like fruits. With the exception of corn, Cati has been such an eager eater when it comes to all her veggies. I assumed it would be the same with fruits. I thought she would LOVE fruits because of their sweetness. But nope. Cati loves her veggies and wants nothing to do with her fruits unless they are mixed into and masked by her veggies. She got a little better with banana but still spat out half of her fruit serving. I thought pears would be a nice change but her reaction to pears has been similar to her reaction to bananas. In other words, Cati could live without the fruit. I even tried the pears to see if they tasted bad and they tasted really good.

Pear Purée
Makes 1/2 cup

2 pears, cut in eights
Breast milk or formula (optional)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Place pear slices on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until tender. Remove from oven and let cool. If you want, remove the skin (it peels right off if the pears are tender enough) before placing in food processor. Purée until smooth. If purée is too thick, add fluid until pears reach the best consistency for eating.

Storage: Good for 3 days in the fridge in an airtight container or up to 3 months in the freezer.

Note: I didn't put any breast milk in this purée. The pears had the perfect consistency for eating.

The baby: She'd rather eat her hand than pears.

So cute.
Aw, I'll bet she'll grow out of the not-liking-fruit stage! But wow, it usually goes the other way around, they just want fruit and no veggies.
